Periscope – Streaming TT Webcams

In TT, Webcams

Not your traditional fixed webcam but rather a way of social sharing. Periscope is Twitters live video sharing service and if somebody told you it was invented for the sole purpose of getting the TT and the natural beauty of the Isle of Man out there you’d believe them! Spectators around the circuit and at other attractions may or may not decide to share their vantage point with the wider world, if they do then it’s really simple to watch. Download the Periscope app for your Android/Apple phone or table, use the Globe icon to search for cameras by location. Zoom in on the Isle of Man and previously recorded videos show as blue dots whilst live video shows as red dots. Click to open and play. If you don’t want to use the apps then there are links to a couple of accounts further down the page that will allow you to watch in your standard computer web browser.

Ramsey Parliament Square Webcam

Ramsey is the second largest town on the Isle of Man and Parliament Square is one of the most popular places to watch the TT and Manx Grand Prix. It’s strange because up until not so long ago it was a real problem finding a Ramsey webcam but now this Parliament Square webcam is joined by a whole host of others at RamseyCam.com – Who’d have thought that Ramsey would end up being the most webcam’d place on the island!

Peel Marina Bridge Webcam (Not Active)

Despite being only 4 years old the swing bridge at Peel Marina is having some serious problems. It looks like the bearings have gone and this means repairs and limited bridge swings for the rest of the summer. Peel harbour control will be limiting it to 5 swings per tide until the repairs have taken place. This is a temporary webcam and likely to be removed as soon as the bridge repairs have taken place.

Peel Promenade Webcam

This Peel webcam enjoys one of the best views on the Isle of Man. In the foreground you have Peel beach and promenade. Peel beach is one of the most popular on the island, perhaps only matched by Port Erin in terms of the number of people who will flock their on a nice summer day!

In the background you have the ever recognisable silhouette of Peel Castle. When high pressure is about during the summer months this webcam highlights why Peel is knows as sunset city, the red sky’s that provide the backdrop for the castle are well worth a view.

Douglas Promenade Webcam

Looking out over the Royal Bank of Scotland building and the Centenary Clock (outside of what was Bushy’s) this webcam gives you a view of what will welcome you if you come to the island via the Steam Packet. I think it’s fair to say that Douglas promenade isn’t quite the majestic site it once was! 😉
